After days of playing will-they/won’t-they, Bill Belichick has agreed to become the next head coach of UNC Football. The entire process started out feeling like due diligence for a guy that has won six Super Bowls until there was so much smoke that it became undeniable there was fire somewhere.
The move seems to have originated with the Board of Trustees pushing the idea of Belichick. Belichick responded with a 400-page “bible” of his requirements for becoming head coach that involve completely overhauling the program as it currently exists. If you’re going to bring a guy out of retirement that was let go from his previous job because the results weren’t there, he at least needs to have a plan for how things need to go.
