LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Louisville third baseman Ben Metzinger hit a solo home run to lead off the bottom of the 10th inning and give the 12th-ranked Cardinals a 9-8 victory over No. 22 North Carolina at Jim Patterson Field on Saturday.
The Diamond Heels (21-10, 7-7 ACC) scored two runs in the top of the ninth inning and pitcher Caden O'Brien pitched a hitless bottom half to send the game into extra innings.
Johnny Castagnozzi led off the ninth with a double and Danny Serretti followed by drawing a walk before Alberto Osun came to the plate with two outs.
