KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – History was made Thursday night on the second day of the 2023 NCAA Women's Swimming and Diving Championships, as Aranza Vazquez became the first University of North Carolina diver to ever win a national title.
Vasquez, the top seed after prelims who led after every round during finals, totaled 358.75 for the win, over 18 points ahead of the field. The junior earned bronze on this event in 2022 and silver in 2021.
The La Paz, Mexico native becomes the first diver in program history to be crowned a national champion on the one-meter.
