INDIANAPOLIS – University of North Carolina freshman guard Cole Anthony is among 46 standout players named on Thursday to the U.S. Basketball Writers Association's initial watch list for the Oscar Robertson Trophy, presented to the men's national player of the year.
Anthony leads Carolina in scoring at 20.0 points per game and also is averaging 7.3 rebounds and 4.0 assists per contest.
Since its founding in 1956, the USBWA has named a national player of the year. In the 1997-98 season, the award was named in honor of the legendary Oscar Robertson, "The Big O.
