On Monday, news surfaced that four coaches on the UNC women’s basketball staff, including head coach Sylvia Hatchell, had been put on leave pending an investigation into the culture of the program based on the testimonies of “student athletes and others.” Nothing else was known about the situation at the time, but last night more information surfaced.
The Washington Post acquired an agenda from a meeting between the some of the relevant student-athletes’ parents and UNC officials, and it states, according to the Post, that the complaints were twofold: They allege that Hatchell forced injured players to play before they were medically ready for action, and that she made “racially inappropriate remarks or behavior.
