I originally declared week eight to be a de facto survival Saturday. Though that might have been accurate back then, I was wrong as this past weekend was really the true survival Saturday of the season. This past weekend eight of the Committee’s top 25 games were decided by eight points or less. Eight of those 25 actually lost this week, including three teams to unranked opponents. On the flipside 10 of those same 25 won by 10 points or more. Despite some chaos, the playoff is starting to really take shape and the CFP rankings this week will do a great deal to really shine light on who has a legitimate chance going into the final two weeks of the season.
