3-D printer built by UNC students gives 13-year-old girl fingers on right hand

Jeff Powell was a junior in biomedical engineering at the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill when a professor approached him in 2014 about a boy named Holden who was missing his fingers. Could Powell make something for the child? “I said ‘Yes, of course.’ ”....Holden’s 3-D hand for the boy made national headlines. People began contacting Powell for help. He and other student volunteers formed the Helping Hand Project.... (Columbus Dispatch)
