ATHENS, Georgia - The latest chapter in the North Carolina and Duke rivalry in women's tennis wound up a 4-0 shutout victory for the second-seeded Tar Heels in the NCAA Championship Round of 16 on Friday morning from the Dan Magill Tennis Complex.
North Carolina (33-2) took the doubles point and later received singles wins from Haley Carter and Sara Daavettila, and Jessie Aney clinched the win on court three in a match that took just over two hours to complete.
Carolina will face seventh seed Stanford in a quarterfinal match on Sunday at 12 p.
