CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - The National Women's Soccer League, the premier professional league for women's soccer in the United States, opened its fifth season of operation with games this past weekend. The University of North Carolina's women's soccer program was well represented as 14 former Tar Heels were on opening day rosters for the league this year.
UNC was also represented by 14 players on opening day rosters in 2017. Sixteen players were on opening day rosters in 2016.
Coach Anson Dorrance's Tar Heel program continues to be one of the best pipelines for players to earn roster spots in the league.
