CHAPEL HILL - North Carolina played one of its most complete matches of the season on Friday against visiting Georgia Tech. The top-ranked Tar Heels won all six first sets in singles play and went on to win 6-1 over the eighth ranked Yellow Jackets from a cool and windy Cone-Kenfield Tennis Center.
The win lifts Carolina to 17-0 on the season and remains atop the Atlantic Coast Conference standings with a 5-0 mark. Georgia Tech falls to 14-6 and 4-2 in the league.
Doubles play set the tone with UNC winning on courts two and three by identical 6-2 score lines to grab an early 1-0 lead.
