Joel Berry II can now say he has accomplished something that only LeBron James has done in his high school career. Berry II was named Florida's Mr. Basketball for the third straight season, a feat that James accomplished while attending high school in Ohio. The 6-foot point guard from Lake Highland Prep will be attending the University of North Carolina in the fall.
Berry received 14 of the 23 first place votes and 187 overall votes to win the award. UCF recruit B.J. Taylor finished second and Duke recruit Grayson Allen finished third.
Berry had an outstanding senior season as he averaged 24.5 points, 7.0 rebounds, 4.3 assists and 2.4 steals as he lead Lake Highland to a Class 4A State Championship.
