North Carolina has announced that junior forward James Michael McAdoo will forego his senior season and enter the 2014 NBA Draft. McAdoo had the opportunity to enter the draft after his freshman and sophomore seasons, but elected to stay despite being considered a lottery pick.
“I just feel I am ready to play at the next level and excited about that challenge,” McAdoo said in a statement released by the school on Thursday.
The 6-foot-9 small forward averaged 14.2 points, and 6.8 rebounds for the Tar Heels this past season. He will enter the draft with former UNC star P.J. Hairston. McAdoo is projected as a mid-second round pick in most mock drafts.
