The bidding started slowly. After a couple bids Friday afternoon, the highest was $1,210, less than a reserve price set for the lot. But given Whittenburg’s buzzer-beating, errant-shot-turned-pass to Lorenzo Charles to give Jim Valvano’s Wolfpack the win over the favored Phi Slama Jama team from Houston, the ring stands to get a lot more attention.
