The Washington Nationals have been scuffling badly in recent weeks and Thursday night appeared to be more of the same as they fell behind the Miami Marlins 9-1 over the first four innings. But then Trea Turner took matters into his own hands.
Turner finished the game with three hits and eight runs batted in—four of those ribbies came on his first career grand slam, which turned a 9-6 deficit into a 10-9 lead. Washington would go on from there to win the game, 14-12.
After hitting a pair of ‘em tonight, Turner has 11 home runs on the season, matching his total from all of last season.
