Thayer Thomas, the former walk-on NC State wide receiver who also returns punts, throws touchdown passes, and occasionally plays outfield for the Wolfpack Baseball team, has appropriately been named to the Paul Hornung Award watch list. The redshirt-junior from Wake Forest, NC, was one of 50 players named to the watch list.
Over his first two years of competition with the Wolfpack, Thomas has hauled in 65 passes for 717 yards and 6 touchdowns, while also averaging 11.2 yards per return on 26 punt returns, including one touchdown. He’s also completed 4-of-7 passes for 130 yards and 2 touchdowns, with an I-guess-it’s-okay 307.
