PNC Arena will have a brand new center-hung video board installed prior to the start of the hockey and college basketball seasons this fall. This upgrade has been a done deal for a while, but renderings weren’t made public until Friday afternoon. It’s 180% larger than the current arena video board.

This is the first in what figures to be a long line of improvements to the arena, which is heading toward a facelift that could cost well over $100 million. The Carolina Hurricanes are the main driver behind that as they negotiate for an extension on their lease with the building, which currently runs through 2024.
