Coach Gottfried had a two part plan to stop wonder kid Ben Simmons, flood the lane, and then crowd it some more. It was a plan that the Pack executed beautifully as they keep Simmons from scoring as he finished with just 4 points on 1-6 shooting. Even though he was held in check in the scoring column he found his teammates on the outside, but State contested well and held LSU to 36 percent shooting from the floor, and forced the Tigers into taking 33 three pointers.
On the offensive end State still struggled from the field but found their way to the fouls line, from the line the team nailed 23 of 29 attempts.
