Some of the experimental rules in place during the NIT this season appear on the way to being implemented across college basketball. One of them is an extended three-point line: the NCAA rules committee is recommending pushing it back to a little over 22 feet, which is the distance used by FIBA.
The committee argues in part that this will slow “the trend of the three-point shot becoming too prevalent” in college basketball. I don’t think there’s a problem currently and I doubt this would really alter three-point attempt rates, but whatever.
Another proposal would have the shot clock resetting to 20 seconds following an offensive rebound rather than the full 30.
