NC State’s Matt McKay has a Historic 1st Career Start

It’s been awhile since a quarterback made their first career start at NC State.

Ryan Finley’s first start was at Boise State. Jacoby Brissett’s first start was at Florida. Brandon Mitchell’s first start was at Arkansas. Pete Thomas’ first start was at Colorado State.

Redshirt Sophomore Matt McKay started his first career game yesterday in the Wolfpack’s 34-6 win over the Pirates, becoming the 1st quarterback to do so since Mike Glennon on September 3rd, 2011.

McKay blew up the box score on his first career start, completing 25 of his 37 passes for 308 yards and a touchdown (0 interceptions), with a Passing Efficiency Rating of 146.
