NC State has spent a good part of the early season in the top 10 of the NCAA’s NET rankings, which is the proprietary metric it introduced as the RPI’s replacement for this year and beyond. The Wolfpack is at No. 6 today, behind Duke, Virginia, Michigan, Wisconsin, and Houston.
The Pomeroy Ratings are still a better measure of overall team quality at this point, and probably will all year—NC State is No. 20 there.
No doubt it’s good news that NC State is faring so well in the NET, but it would be a bad idea to translate that to “NC State is currently on the 2-seed line.
