NC State had a lot of high school football prospects on campus Saturday for its annual junior day event. The event always leads to lots of new offers to prospects—getting evaluated in person can make a big difference—and usually a commitment or two.
The Wolfpack picked up a verbal from in-state defensive tackle Jaylen Smith, who is a member of the 2020 class. Smith plays for Hertford County High School in Ahoskie, NC.
Smith also holds an offer from Wake Forest at this point in the recruiting cycle, and as we’ve seen with lots of kids State has gotten in on early, he could be another prospect who draws more and more interest, especially once his senior season gets started.
