NC State picks up former Marshall safety Derrek Pitts

NC State added a bit more depth to its defensive backfield via the transfer market on Sunday with the pick-up of former Marshall safety Derrek Pitts. Pitts began his college career at West Virginia and has the unusual distinction of starting games for the Mountaineers and the Thundering Herd.

Pitts played for current Wolfpack defensive coordinator Tony Gibson when he was in Morgantown, and that connection may have made the difference in his recruitment. And while Pitts has already spent four years in college, he has two years of eligibility remaining (one redshirt year, plus the 2020 freebie saved a couple seasons of eligibility).
