NC State’s players and coaches have been emphatic after losing 10-51 to Tennessee that their goals are still intact for this season.
By that, they mean that their goal of winning an ACC Championship is still attainable, because getting whooped by the Volunteers doesn’t impact their conference record in the least.
That is true. That goal is still intact.
But a goal that is no longer intact is proving that NC State is relevant outside the ACC.
Under Dave Doeren, NC State is 4-11 against Non-Conference Power 4 opponents, and they are 1-8 since 2018.
