Unfortunately, it looks like there’s a good chance we won’t see freshman linebacker Payton Wilson on the field this fall. The N&O’s Joe Giglio reported Monday afternoon that Wilson endured a setback during his recovery from a torn ACL and there is no timetable for his return.
Wilson tore his right ACL toward the end of his senior season at Orange High School, though that didn’t alter his status as one of the most coveted in-state prospects during the 2018 recruiting cycle. He flipped from UNC to NC State back in December.
The wise course of action now is just to be extra cautious with his rehab, and if that means he doesn’t suit up at all in 2018, then so be it.
