#2 Seed NC State simply couldn’t hold onto victory when it was within grasp tonight, falling 73-80 to #3 seed LSU in the Sweet 16.
The Tigers dominated the 1st Quarter, leading by as much as 11 points. Freshman Zam Jones rallied the Wolfpack in the 2nd Quarter, scoring 11 consecutive points in less than four minutes and giving NC State the lead. Jones finished the game with 13 points in 17 minutes, shooting 4 of 9 from the field and 3 of 5 from three.
The Pack entered halftime with a 40-36 lead.
LSU roared back in the 3rd, reclaiming the lead at the 6:32 mark and maintaining it through the period, leading by 4 heading into the 4th quarter.
