Dave Doeren has tabbed former Duke head coach Ted Roof as the 10th member of the NC State Football coaching staff, effective January 1, 2018, the first day that NCAA rules allow FBS coaching staffs to expand from nine to ten full members. Roof will hold the titles of Associate Head Coach and Co-Defensive Coordinator, while also sharing duties with Aaron Henry in coaching the safeties and nickels in the defensive secondary.
It is yet to be seen how the defensive coordinating duties will be split between Roof and Dave Huxtable, or what (if any) impact this hire has on Huxtable's long-term prospects on the NC State staff, but Roof is no stranger to the Defensive Coordinator position.
