With six minutes to go in the game, State found themselves up by a dozen. But a brutal overtime period sees State fall 82-72.
From the very get-go, State was in control. Smith and Hayes came out with their best games of the year, as Smith ended with a career high 21. Their first deficit of the game took place on Purdue’s first shot in the overtime. Bad timing on turnovers, questionable fouls and hot second half shooting by Purdue was the downfall of the upset bid.
State moves to 7-3 and return home to face Richmond on 12/17.
