What felt like an increasingly inevitable development over the last month became official Thursday, as reports indicate that NC State quarterback MJ Morris is heading to the transfer portal. Morris opted out of the season after four starts, making the bizarre decision to relinquish the QB job in order to preserve a year of eligibility.
His choice to sideline himself was as baffling as it was unwise, and if his position in the locker room wasn’t untenable at that point, everything that happened afterward likely made it so. NC State not only went on a winning streak without him, it got better with Brennan Armstrong back as the starter, utilizing a re-made offense to roll through the back portion of the schedule.
