Well, all things considered, the first game of the post-Ryan Finley era was a rousing success. Matthew McKay looked the part with 308 yards passing and zero interceptions. We couldn’t have asked for more than that in his first career start.
It wasn’t as lopsided as the game between these two teams last December, but suffice it to say that ECU is going to take plenty more lumps this season. Especially if that secondary is going to have several big mental breakdowns every week.
While the offense was piling up over 500 yards, the Wolfpack defense was consistently shutting down the ECU offense, which didn’t sustain many drives after that first series of the day.
