Former NC State Catcher Andrew Knizner has signed a 1-year contract with the Texas Rangers worth $1.825 million. Knizner spent his first 5 MLB seasons as a member of the St. Louis Cardinals, where he played in 255 games.
This past season, Knizner posted career numbers in Home Runs (10), RBI’s (31), Runs (30), Slugging Percentage (.424) and OPS (.712).
Knizner is now reunited with former Cardinals Pitching Coach Mike Maddux.
When Knizner originally arrived at NC State, he was a 3rd baseman, earning Freshman All-American honors at the position. As a Freshman, he earned All-ACC Third Team honors.
