Braxton Beverly granted immediate eligibility by NCAA, will play against Bryant

In a significant upset, common sense has emerged the winner in an NCAA compliance case. The NCAA reversed course on Braxton Beverly’s case Tuesday, granting him immediate eligibility. Beverly will be in uniform and is going to play against Bryant tonight, per NC State basketball SID Craig Hammel.

Based on additional information, NCAA staff reconsidered and granted NC State’s transfer waiver request for Braxton Beverly, allowing him to compete immediately.

Beverly opted out of his scholarship at Ohio State after Thad Matta got fired, but he’d already started summer courses at that point, so the NCAA, in all its pedantic idiocy, characterized Beverly as an undergraduate transfer rather than a high school free agent recruit.
