The attorney for Anthony Grundy, the former N.C. State University basketball star who was jailed this month for failing to appear in court six years ago, said his client has been living in West Africa and flew back to the United States to resolve the issue.
“When he got in New York he found out they had placed a hold on him,” Raleigh attorney E. Lee Turner said.
Grundy, 38, was scheduled to appear in court Friday morning, but his case has been continued until Tuesday, Turner said.
Grundy has been charged with failing to appear in court on felony charges of habitual impaired driving, five misdemeanor counts of failing to appear in court and two misdemeanor counts of misdemeanor probation violation, a spokesman with the Wake County jail reported.
