The James Norris Memorial Trophy, is a yearly NHL award given out to the best NHL defenseman in the regular season, voted by the PHWA (Professional Hockey Writers’ Association). The Trophy is named after longtime and former owner of the Detroit Red Wings, James E. Norris. So who are the nominees?
Mark Giordano was arguably the best two-way defenseman this year. He was a stalwart on the Calgary Flames defense and was able to lead them to a first place finish in the Western Conference. He had 17 goals (T-3rd), 57 assists (T-2nd) and 74 points (T-2nd) in 78 games.
