Despite the best efforts of general manager Pat Verbeek to make the trade chatter around Trevor Zegras disappear, his name continues to find itself in the rumor mill as the offseason starts to get underway.
Zegras is an immensely talented young center who'd become one of the league's most exciting players. But the 2023-24 season was a lost year for him due to a delayed restricted free agent contract signing, injury, and a lack of progress in his overall game.
As talented as he is with the puck, his game still has some warts away from the puck and there is some question as to when, or if, those elements of his game will develop.
