According to Nick Kypreos of Sportsnet, an injury suffered during the preseason could prevent the young star from playing the entire World Cup of Hockey.
James O'Brien of Pro Hockey Talk adds the issue is considered week-to-week and not necessarily serious.
The preliminary round of the World Cup of Hockey begins Sept. 17. Canada is not only the host nation but one of the top contenders to bring home gold in the tournament.
