The Edmonton Oilers reportedly tabbed Todd McLellan as their next head coach, per Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman. His hiring hasn't yet been made official, but it's expected that the Oilers will close the deal by the end of the week.
McLellan spent the last seven years with the San Jose Sharks. Although his teams were extremely successful during the regular season, his tenure will likely be remembered for the Sharks' infamous postseason flameouts.
Despite posting a .637 average points percentage between 2008 and 2015, San Jose made it no further than the conference finals.
