The Calgary Flames dominate the Colorado Avalanche on the Strength of Mike Smith’s Glove Hand

The games first five minutes were fast paced play with back and forth chances that didn’t amount to much by either of the Calgary Flames or the Colorado Avalanche. Calgary’s Matthew Tkachuk made his presence felt early in the game by exchanging pleasantries with numerous Avalanche players. He eventually draws Avs blue-liner Erik Johnson into a cross checking penalty and gets his team the first power play of the game. The Avalanche penalty killers did an excellent job keeping shots to the outside and getting their bodies in the way.

Calgary carried momentum after their power play expired only to commit a foul of their own.
