The Florida Panthers are busy adding talent to their roster for the stretch run, as they have reportedly acquired Teddy Purcell from the Edmonton Oilers.
According to George Richards of the Miami Herald, the Panthers will receive Purcell from the Oilers in exchange for a third-round pick. ESPN's Pierre LeBrun confirmed the deal.
The addition of Purcell came less than one hour after Elliotte Friedman of Hockey Night in Canada reported the Panthers acquired Jiri Hudler from the Calgary Flames in exchange for two draft picks.
The Panthers are clearly trying to put some distance between themselves and Boston and Tampa Bay in the Atlantic Division.
