Shell intends to deploy 50,000 on-street electric vehicle charging stations by 2025

Shell has announced plans to deploy 50,000 electric vehicle charging stations that are on-street in the United Kingdom within the next 4 years, aiming to offer a third of network required to meet national climate change goals. Earlier this year, this energy firm purchased ubitricity, a prominent provider of on-street electric vehicle charging points for local governments, with a system of 3,600 chargers in the lamp posts and bollards.

The government’s plan to phase out the fossil fuel cars in favour of electric vehicles has been hampered by a lack of on-street charging stations in urban regions.
