Satellite Internet is the process of accessing the Internet with the help of communication satellites, usually geostationary satellites. Satellite Internet is location independent and the connection could be taken anywhere as it provides global coverage.
Satellite internet is wireless internet beamed down from satellites orbiting the Earth. HughesNet and Viasat are the two primary residential satellite internet providers in the US. In the near future, Starlink (from SpaceX) and Project Kuiper (from Amazon) will also offer satellite internet service.
Satellite internet is often used in remote, hard to reach areas. These areas lack the physical infrastructure such as wireless radio connections, telephone or fibre cables.
