According to David Pagnotta, Vegas was trying to trade for Ryan Getzlaf. The feeling for a union was also mutual with Getzlaf ready to waive his no move clause to go there.
The asking price for Getzlaf was ultimately too high for Golden Knights GM Kelly McCrimmon and the two sides weren’t able to finalize a deal.
