Patrice Bergeron retires

One of the game’s best players has officially announced his retirement. In an eloquent essay released by the Boston Bruins, Patrice Bergeron said goodbye to hockey.

Bergeron, 38, ends his brilliant career with 427 goals and 613 assists for 1040 points in 1294 regular-season contests. For his postseason numbers, he adds 128 points in 170 playoff matches with a Stanley Cup ring from 2011.
