Even though the NHL trade deadline isn't until March 5, the Dallas Stars decided not to wait to upgrade their roster by acquiring Mikael Granlund and Cody Ceci from the San Jose Sharks on Saturday.
NHL Network's Kevin Weekes first reported the Stars and Sharks were working on a deal for Granlund.
Per The Athletic's Chris Johnston, Granlund and Ceci are being sent to Dallas, while TSN's Darren Dreger reported the Sharks will receive a first-round pick and fourth-round pick in return.
Pierre LeBrun of TSN noted the fourth-round pick can become a third-rounder if the Stars make the Stanley Cup Final.
