The Edmonton Oilers are scouring the Earth for a goaltender and GM Ken Holland reached out to his longtime netminder with Detroit. It turns out, Jimmy Howard is not going to play this season and beyond.
NHL News: Jimmy Howard to retire
Elliotte Friedman reported last night that Jimmy Howard told the Edmonton Oilers he wasn’t interested in coming back. The 36 year-old goaltender will call it a career after 14 seasons.
Howard told Holland he is very happy at home with his family and coaching his kids. He ends his All Star (2) career with a record of 246-196-70 in 543 games.
