Longtime NHL forward Mike Grier is reportedly set to make history as the first-ever Black general manager in the NHL.
According to ESPN, the San Jose Sharks are expected to formally introduce Grier as their new GM at a press conference at 2 p.m. ET on Tuesday.
Grier spent last season as a hockey operations advisor with the New York Rangers and also previously spent time as a scout with the Chicago Blackhawks. He will replace Doug Wilson, who stepped down as Sharks GM in April because of medical reasons after 19 years at the helm.
