The Winnipeg Jets and Chicago Blackhawks joined together Saturday night at Bell MTS Place to honor the Humboldt Broncos after 15 people were killed Friday when a truck collided with a bus carrying members of the junior hockey team in Saskatchewan.
Before the puck was dropped, players from the Jets and Blackhawks came together at center ice for a moment of silence:
#PrayersForHumboldtTonight we play for the name on our back. Tonight we play for the Broncos. #PrayersForHumboldt https://t.co/EOeyt6mg8W
Both squads also had their nameplates replaced with the word "Broncos," as their Twitter accounts documented:
#PrayersForHumboldtTonight we wear "Broncos" on the back of our jerseys, symbolizing the unity and support of our hockey communities coming together as one for the Humboldt Broncos' family.
