ECHL: Kelly Cup Finals Preview

The highest award that a team can achieve in the ECHL. Named after Patrick J. Kelly, the ECHL Commissioner Emeritus, it replaced the Jack Riley Cup in 1997. Made of pewter, the trophy stands 28 inches (71.12cm) tall, weighs 33.5 pounds (15.2kg). The South Carolina Stingrays (Washington Capitals Affiliate) were the first team to hoist the new Kelly Cup. They bested the Louisiana IceGators (former Minnesota Wild affiliate) 4-1 in the 1997 finals. The most recent recipients were the Colorado Eagles (Colorado Avalanche affiliate) in their final ECHL season, whom bested the Florida Everblades (Carolina Hurricanes affiliate) after a 7 game series.
