The NHL has acknowledged that there is a correlation of head injuries due to hits connected to CTE. For those that don’t know, CTE stands for Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy, which is a brain degeneration condition caused by repeated head trauma. For years, the NFL denied that CTE was present in players due to big hits in games, and lost in a lawsuit after much research and proof against the NFL. Again, the NHL has acknowledged the correlation, but there needs to be more light shed, in order for more precautionary changes in the game for player safety.
