Chicago Blackhawks reach 1-year deal with Alex Nylander; “he’s just scratching the surface”

Restricted free agent forward Alex Nylander agreed to terms on a one-year, $874,125 contract with the Chicago Blackhawks on Monday.

Nylander underwent surgery for a torn meniscus in his left knee on Dec. 21 and did not play last season. He recorded career highs in goals (10), assists (16), points (26) and games played (65) in 2019-20.

“With Alex’s pedigree and being only 23 years old, we feel as if there is still plenty of room for growth in his game,” Blackhawks general manager Stan Bowman said. “He is just scratching the surface of the type of player we feel he is capable of becoming.
