The final berth in the conference final round of the Stanley Cup playoffs will be handed out at 7:30 p.m. ET, when Game 7 between the New York Rangers and Washington Capitals begins.
After coming near the brink of elimination, the Rangers battled back in Games 5 and 6 to force a deciding Game 7 at Madison Square Garden on Wednesday night.
The Rangers enter the game with all of the momentum in the series, but the Capitals will take the ice with a chance to rewrite their playoff history.
Washington's most recent playoff collapse came at the hands of the Rangers, who pitched two consecutive shutouts to close out the 2013 Eastern Conference quarterfinal series between the two clubs.
